Helicopter Ride through the canyons 2019-06-09

We decided to take a a day pretty much off the motorcycle and take a helicopter ride through the canyons. You just have to pick a day and hope the best for the weather. If it is windy then the helicopter cannot go deep in the canyons but you will still get a nice view from above of the canyons.

We flew on Pinnacle Helicopters. It was a little windy that day so we stayed above the canyons for the most part. Again, depends on the weather as to what kind of a ride you get. Better safe than at the bottom of a canyon. The helicoper company is 14 miles north of Arches National Park on HWY 191, at Canyonlands Field Airport. Short ride. Made reservations, no muss no fuss we got on the helicopter for our ride.

We pulled away from the airport and saw the canyons laid out below us:

Above and next to the carved rock:

A unique vantage point to see how rock arches / bridges are formed:

And the different layers of the sedimentary rocks as they were formed:

Two pictures of the Colorado River:

And huge spires slowly being worn down:

The top of the Colorado Mesa and the layers of rock underneath it:

From there we went back to Moab to spend the afternoon walking about being a 'tourist' and finishing up our day.
