Motorcycle Trip From the mouth of the Columbia River to Columbia Lake in Canada and the Selkirk Scenic Byway 2022-04-22 to 2022-04-23 and 2022-09-05 to 2022-09-10

A map of the Route I took down to where the Columbia River pours out into the Pacific ocean, riding up the river as much as the roads allowed along the Columbia river to where it begins at Lake Columbia. I then decided to ride the Selkirk Loop, the only international scenic byway. Total distance was about 2,500 miles. The first two days in April were about 800 miles on the BMW K1600 (RIP). The last 6 days in September were the remainder 1,700 miles on the 2003 Harley Heritage. During much of the ride, as the saying goes 'You will probably be on either side of comfortable', cold in the morning hot at the end of the day. MOST of the river ride is 2 lane roads, short trips on the Interstate highway when I had to.

To cross the Canadian border you SHOULD go through the ArriveCAN process. It is AMAZING and easy. I strongly suggest that you get logged in, registered and put in your border crossing BEFORE you cross the border. Easy Peasy.

The longest stretch of the super slab was just coming home, which I am glad I did. A fire shut down the other route that I would have normally taken. I knew that riding in August or September was a risk as it is fire season in the NorthWest. Sometimes there are less fires, sometimes more of them. Late June or July is a better choice. A good website to visit / check is the Fire and Smoke map, Western Fire Chiefs or Fire Information for Resource Management System US / Canada.

The two day (April 22, 23) and another 6 day trip (September 5 - September 10)
